English congratulates Co. Meath firm on multi-million euro export contract

Fine Gael Meath West TD and Chairman of the Oireachtas Jobs Committee, Damien English, has today (Tuesday) congratulated the Oldcastle-based firm Dromone Engineering on securing a multi-million euro exporting contract with the international company Massey Ferguson. Dromone Engineering was one of a number of Irish companies to sign major contracts during a trade mission to France led by the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton.

“It’s great news that Dromone Engineering has secured a €9.7 million contract with France’s biggest exporter of agricultural products, Massey Ferguson. It is a major accomplishment for the Oldcastle firm, which makes tractor hitch and excavator couplers. It is also a very positive sign for the agri-manufacturing sector, which has been identified by the Government for its growth potential.

“New contracts and alliances worth more than €17 million were signed by Irish companies on the three-day Enterprise Ireland trade mission. The success of the trip underlines the potential for Irish companies to sign lucrative export deals with one of our closest European neighbours.

“The Government has introduced a range of initiatives to provide Irish companies with the advice and support they need to enter the export market. While emerging markets, including the BRIC countries, hold huge potential, the importance of the European market and its 500 million consumers cannot be underestimated.

“The Action Plan for Jobs contains a set of specific measures to help Irish firms to enjoy success similar to that of Dromone’s. The new Potential Exporters Division within Enterprise Ireland is supporting indigenous companies to trade in foreign markets, while the creation of a new network of ‘one-stop-shop’ micro enterprise support offices means companies can get the advice they need locally.

“This is being backed up by a series of schemes to make it easier for businesses to access credit, including the Development Capital Scheme, the Partial Credit Guarantee Scheme and the Microfinance Fund. There are excellent opportunities for companies like Dromone Engineering to expand overseas and abroad, and the Government is determined to give them the support they need to get there.”
