Fine Gael TD for Dublin South, Olivia Mitchell, has today (Tuesday) welcomed the announcement that a Leap card for students and scholars will be launched in time for the 2012/13 academic year.
“I am very pleased that the Leap card for students and scholars is being launched in time for the 2012/13 academic year. The launch of the new Leap card has been very successful to date, and, by extending it to include students, they can avail of the reduced fares available for them by transport operators in Dublin. This is important for students who face severe financial challenges when studying in college.
“The many benefits of the Leap card are that you pay less for single fares than with cash on Dublin Bus, the Luas and on commuter rail services, it is flexible, convenient and it saves time by avoiding queues at ticket machines. With the Leap Card you just Top-Up with Travel Credit and go whenever you like.
“There are also over 400 Leap card agents in shops around Dublin where you can purchase, top up or collect travel credit purchased online.”
