Heather Humphreys, TD

Heather Humphreys TD was appointed Minister of Justice, Social Protection, Community and Rural Development and the Islands on 27 June 2020. She previously served as Minister for Business, Enterprise, and Innovation from November 30, 2017 to June 27, 2020, and Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht. She previously served as Minister for Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs from 6 May 2016, and from July 2014. She was elected to the Dáil on February 2011 for the constituency of Cavan Monaghan. She was re-elected to Monaghan County council in June 2009 and during her time she was Chair of the Council’s Strategic Policy Committee on Planning and Economic Development. She was chairperson of Monaghan County Council from 09-10.

Heather has being playing the piano since she was six. Her first job was in Butlins in Mosney (not as a red coat but as a waitress). Heather’s favourite book is Showtime by Pat Leahy. Her favourite quote is: ‘good leadership can be described as humility with a great resolve to succeed’. Heather is married with two children and lives on a farm.
