Senator Imelda HenrySeanad Spokesperson on Children

Imelda is married to Aiden Meehan and they have two children, Heather-Jane and Peter. A native of Sligo, she was first elected to Sligo County Council in 2004, succeeding her father Peter Henry who had been on the Council for the previous 14 years. She was educated at Ursuline College, Sligo and is a graduate of LSB College in Dublin.

She was elected to the Seanad in 2011 on the Industrial and Commercial Panel. The Vintners Federation of Ireland were her nominating body and she has been involved in business in Sligo for many years. She is the Seanad Spokesperson on Children and a member of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health, The British-Irish Parliamentary Association, the Fine Gael Committee on Enterprise, Jobs and Innovation and the Committee on Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht Affairs.

JenaValve announcement is major boost to Sligo - Henry

Fine Gael Sligo Senator, Imelda Henry, has said that the decision by heart valve manufacturer, JenaValve, to establish manufacturing capabilities in Sligo will come as a massive boost to the county and the region. The news was announced by the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD today (Monday) from east coast USA, where he is leading a 5-day IDA investment mission seeking to win new projects for Ireland. The measure is being supported by the Government through IDA Ireland.
