Andrew is married to Ann and they have four children; three sons and a daughter, aged between 12 and 22. Andrew has been a member of Fine Gael since 1983; he was first elected to Wicklow County Council in 1999, and first elected to the Dáil in 2007. Andrew runs the family farm which has been in the family for 6 generations.
Andrew is currently Chairman of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture, Food and The Marine.
Some other facts about Andrew: Andrew loves sport he played rugby, soccer and GAA in his youth. As a young farmer in 1981 he won the Stephen Cullinane Scholarship to New Zealand, and when he was there he played rugby in Canterbury. Andrew is a big music fan; some of his favourite artists are Jim Morrison, Burce Springsteen, Paul Brady, Crowded House and Rod Stewart. Andrew loves movies, especially the Shawshank Redemption and the Great Escape. His favourite dessert is fresh fruit salad with some natural yoghurt!
