He was first elected to the 29th Dáil in May, 2002.

Deputy Breen was previously Deputy Spokesperson on Enterprise, Trade & Employment with Special Responsibilty for EU Internal Market Development and Small & Medium Enterprises.

He was previously Deputy Spokesperson on Transport.

First elected to the Dáil in 2002, Pat had been a member of Clare County Council since June 1999 having achieved the highest Fine Gael vote in the county.

Pat is a strong supporter of infrastructural and industrial regional development.
