WEXFORD Minister of State and Government Chief Whip, Paul Kehoe TD has welcomed Minister for the Environment, Phil Hogan TD’s decision to approve funding for Wexford County Council to accept a tender to the value of €6,346,023 for the Gorey Sewerage Scheme – Extension of Courtown Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Following the announcement Minister Kehoe said;
“This is great infrastructural development for the town of Gorey, as it will upgrade and increase the treatment capacity of Courtown Wastewater Treatment Plant to serve Gorey as well as Courtown. Wastewater treatment is vitally important for all existing residents and businesses in the Gorey/Courtown area as well as any future developments.
“The signing of the contracts will allow the development to commence as soon as possible. Once the work has been completed the Gorey Wastewater Treatment Plant will be decommissioned and the structure will then be converted to provide screening and storm water storage.
“This is a significant infrastructural development in North Wexford at a time when our economy is still recovering”.
