From an early age Brian has been involved with his local community, in particular with his GAA club, Rathvilly, becoming chairman in 2013 and moving to vice chairman in 2014. Brian is a local freelance sports journalist with the Carlow People newspaper and with local radio also. He has been involved with most fundraisers in the area for many different clubs and societies from tennis and other sports clubs to Parish and community council, doing MC work, selling tickets, getting stuck in and helping in any way he can. Brian lives 3km outside the village of Rathvilly and 6k outside of Clonmore/Hackestown. He is passionate about the local area which has a proud history, bringing a youthful fresh approach to the table and a passion for making East Carlow a great place to live. So why has Brian chosen Fine Gael? His dad, Brian senior, who passed away in 2008, was a former secretary of the West Wicklow branch of Fine Gael and his great great grand uncle was a former leader of the party and a former minister, Richard “Dick” Mulcahy.
