Johnny Flynn has been serving as a Councillor since he was first elected in 2004 and again in 2009 and 2014 on a promise to take “no expenses” and to not accept ” top-up payments ” for being appointed to committees.
As a husband and father of 4 young adults living in Ennis, he’s highly motivated to work towards building a stronger, safer and just community for all families and individuals by identifying and solving local concerns. Johnny’s efforts as Councillor have an impact on today’s residents and also help to lay a road map to a successful future, such as the visioning initiative for Ennis 2020.
Johnny applies his experience as Civil Engineer, Law Graduate and former Chief Fire Officer to influence local authorities and get the best value for taxpayers’ money in Clare County Council projects. He has been a company Director employing 10 people for the past 25 years which propels his involvement in programmes to stimulate job growth in Clare, such as the Dublin Coach Service from Ennis.
His first-hand experience into importance of public facilities to build community enrichment comes from 10 years’ experience as a member of the John O’Sullivan Park (Lees Rd) and Tim Smyth Park sports & recreation development committees, and as an ex-player and administrator in soccer, handball, squash, tennis and badminton.
