Councillor Aisling Dolan

Cllr Aisling Dolan

Galway County Council

Aisling was elected as a Councillor for the Ballinasloe area in May, 2019. She joined Fine Gael in November, and will stand in the constituency of Roscommon Galway as a General Election Candidate for Fine Gael.

From Poolboy, Ballinasloe and a student of Scoil Mhuire, Aisling is an Arts graduate of NUI Galway, with a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Languages for Business. With training in export marketing and Diploma in Project Management.

She comes from a farming background, with a love of the countryside and rural life. Aisling worked in Dublin for Enterprise Ireland, supporting Irish businesses, and in Science Foundation Ireland, funding excellence in research at 3rd level. She moved back to Ballinasloe three years ago and joined NUI Galway, where she works as a project manager on Innovation in Healthcare, working with Irish start-ups and staff within the HSE.

“I am a co-founder of the Ballinasloe Says No campaign group, which successfully challenged Galway County Council in the High Court on compliance with the European Habitats Directive and impact of a waste transfer station on the waterways and on the River Suck Flood Plains. Motivated and co-ordinated community support in Ballinasloe area to collect over 500 petitions, 220 objections and canvassed 39 Councillors in Galway County Council. Actively engaged with Ministers, MEPs, TDs, Senators, senior barristers, solicitors on behalf of the community in Ballinasloe and townlands in this area.”

The Ballinasloe municipal area has a strong agricultural sector, fantastic schools and a great community of clubs and we are also facing challenges. I want to develop East Galway as a location for future development & investment.
