Bobby has been involved in politics since 1985. His official record is as follows:
Formally: Member, Kerry County Council since 1991;
Member, Southern Health Board 1991 – 2004; Member, Kerry Educational Service (KES) 2004 – 2009; Chairperson, Transport SPC 2004 – 2009;
Chairperson, Environmental & Water Services SPC 2004 – 2009; Mayor of Kerry 2009 – 2010; Mayor of the Killarney Municipal Area for 2015 – 2016.
Currently: Member of the HSE Forum; Member South West Regional Authority; Southern and Eastern Regional Assembly; Fine Gael Whip on Kerry County Council; Member, Joint Policing Committee; Member Community Culture and Tourism SPC; General Secretary, LAMA.
Bobby has been elected in 4 different electoral areas and 2 constituencies:
Mid Kerry, Dingle Area 1991; Tralee Area 1999 and 2004; Killarney Area 2009 and 2014 and Castleisland in 2019.
Bobby is the longest serving member on Kerry County Council and has been serving the people of Kerry since 1991. He is a member of Castleisland Desmond GAA Club, Castleisland Golf Club, Killarney Golf and Fishing Club and Castleisland Rugby Club. Bobby is a publican by trade, having owned and run The Poets Inn on Main Street, Castleisland.
