Jim was first elected in 1994, and has been returned at every subsequent election thereafter. Jim is committed to securing funding for expenditure on infrastructure and public transport; he is working hard to attract inward investment to his local electoral area. Under spatial strategy Navan is the primary development centre in Meath, Jim wants to develop the area economically to its full potential to enable people to work in the place they live. There is a very significant retail offering in Navan and it can provide a high quality environment to attract investors. He has worked tirelessly together with Meath County Council on the committee for the opening of the Navan to Kingscourt greenway, walking and cycling facility, which has received planning permission and is currently at the detailed design stage. Jim will continue to work hard to maintain and support Our Lady’s Hospital in Navan, and also to represent the best interests of all people in his electoral area.
