233,500 tonnes of fish quotas secured, worth €280m for Irish fishermen for 2017
“I welcome confirmation this morning from the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Michael Creed T.D., that 233,500 tonnes of quotas was been secured, worth €280 million for Irish fishermen for 2017, which will undoubtedly help the fishing sector significantly here in Donegal.”
Tillage farmers in Donegal to get payments under the Protein Aid Scheme – Minister McHugh
“The €3 million set aside for this Scheme is an important support for the production of protein crops here in Donegal and around Ireland and will be paid to over 1,000 farmers nationally, who are growing in excess of 12,000 ha of beans, peas and lupins. The rate for this year has been set at €246 / ha. “This is a particularly important payment for growers in Donegal, considering the very difficult year experienced by the tillage sector. It also means that the animal feed compounders have a native source of protein available for inclusion in ruminant rations.
Payments for Donegal farmers on the 2016 Young Farmers’ Scheme will begin in December – Minister McHugh

Launch of Simon Cumbers 2017 Students Scheme
The Simon Cumbers Media Fund is supported by Irish Aid, the Government’s overseas aid programme, and provides funding to students to travel and report from one of Irish Aid’s partner countries. The Fund provides students with an opportunity to deepen their understanding of developing countries, and facilitates increased coverage of development issues in the media.
Basic Farm Payments of over €44M supporting farmers in Donegal
In Donegal, 7,837 farmers have received Basic Farm Payments so far in 2015, making up 95.17% of payments. In 2016, €1.2 billion in direct funding will be made available from the EU to fund the Basic Payment Scheme nationally.
