Murphy welcomes launch of public consultation on OPW proposals to deal with Blackpool flooding

Fine Gael TD for Cork North Central, and Minister for European Affairs, Dara Murphy, has today (Tuesday) welcomed the launch of proposals by the Office of Public Works (OPW) to deal with the flooding problems in Blackpool. Minister Murphy said there will be an opportunity for members of the local community to share their concerns about the flooding issue at the public exhibition of the River Bride Blackpool Certified Drainage Scheme, in the local Community Centre, 90 Great William O'Brien Street, Blackpool.

Speech on the Thirty-First Amendment of the Constitution (Children) Bill

It is a long awaited and much needed initiative and I commend the Minister, Deputy Frances Fitzgerald, the Taoiseach and the Cabinet on bringing it forward within 18 months of coming to office. I also welcome the cross-party support for the proposal in the House and the broader universal support from agencies working in the area of child welfare. Such a consensus is probably unique in the history of the State.
