Fine Gael Senator Tim Lombard is encouraging B&B owners in Cork to apply for the Restart Grant Plus to help them get back on their feet from Covid-19.
Senator Lombard, who is based in Cork South West, was speaking as applications opened for the Restart Grant Plus scheme for B&Bs, which is being administered by Fáilte Ireland on behalf of the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation.
Senator Lombard said, “Through the Restart Grant Plus for B&Bs, grants of €4,000 will be available to B&Bs that do not pay rates to their local authority. The grant allocation will assist B&B owners with the costs of re-opening and operating their businesses.
“Cork’s tourism and hospitality sector has been devastated by Covid-19 and the Government, together with industry groups, is doing all it can to assist businesses as they navigate their way through the crisis.
“The Restart Grant Plus for B&Bs is an additional grant programme for tourism businesses contained in the July Jobs Stimulus Package which was announced by the Government. Around €8 million has been ringfenced to support B&Bs.
“I have seen how communities and local businesses have gone above and beyond in their response to the crisis, and they have come up with dynamic and innovative ways of trading while adhering to public health protocols.
“This grant will help B&B owners with the costs associated with re-opening and re-employing workers following COVID-19 closures.
“Applications can for the Restart Grant Plus for B&Bs can be made through the Fáilte Ireland website and I would strongly encourage B&B owners in Cork County to apply straight away.”
