Josepha Madigan
Josepha is the sole Fine Gael T.D. for Dublin Rathdown, she was elected for the first time in the 2016 election. Josepha served on the Fine Gael Government Formation negotiation team after the 2016 election in meetings with independent T.D.s and others. She was Fine Gael Councillor for the Stillorgan Ward on Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, from May 2014 until her election as a T.D.
She is an award-winning Family Lawyer and Partner at Madigans Solicitors. She is a qualified mediator and is passionate about mediation. Josepha published a book entitled “Appropriate Dispute Resolution in Ireland” a handbook for family lawyers and their clients. Josepha served as Specialist Liaison Officer for Family Mediation with the Mediators’ Institute of Ireland. Josepha also lectures regularly in the area of family law and has written newspaper articles on this subject.
She studied at Mount Anville School, Trinity College Dublin and Blackhall Place. Josepha is also a mediator, and lectures regularly in the area of family law.
Josepha has lived in the Stillorgan Ward all her life.
Married with two children, her family has deep roots in the community.
Over the last number of years, she has been an active member of Mount Merrion Residents’ Association, Scoil San Treasa Parent’s Association and the Mount Merrion Parish Baptism Committee.
Josepha is a member of many local clubs including Deerpark Tennis Club.
Josepha is passionate about using both her business and legal skills in assisting constituents.
She is a strong advocate of responsible governance and prudent spending. Josepha believes in a society that is progressive and creative but also in a government that is careful with tax payers money and focused on building sound economic policies that make work pay. Josepha would like to see extended support for the self- employed and working parents with childcare costs. Josepha would like to play her part examining our family law legislation, to find ways to ease the legal and financial burdens of separating and divorcing couples.
