Eircode will benefit Tipperary people and businesses- Hayes
14th July 2015 - Fine Gael Press Office
Fine Gael TD for Tipperary, Tom Hayes, has said that introduction of Eircode to replace traditional postal addresses will be of benefit to Tipperary people and businesses.
“The new Eircode service is going to bring a new efficiency to our postal services for Tipperary people and local businesses. It will make it much easier to identify addresses meaning quicker delivery times and reduced costs.
“It will also be of huge benefit to the Gardaí and local fire and ambulance services which will be able to get to people in distress more quickly than before.
“I understand there have been a small number of people expressing concerns that their code may be wrong. The reason some addresses are showing with the ‘wrong’ county is that Eircodes are based on the existing An Post sorting system. In a small number of instances, the An Post sorting office is in a different county to the address. This has been the case for years and nothing has changed with the new system.
“It’s important for people to know that their address will not change as a result of the new system. Instead they will use their old address, (including the county), and simply add the new Eircode at the end.”
