O’Mahony calls for proactive approach at news of Irish Pride receivership
12th June 2015 - Fine Gael Press Office
Fine Gael TD, John O’Mahony, has been in contact with Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Burton TD, and has requested that full support be provided from Government agencies following the news that Ballinrobe based Irish Pride bakery has gone into receivership with a risk to approximately sixty jobs.
“The people of Ballinrobe are most concerned at the announcement that the Irish Pride bakery has gone into receivership. My thoughts are with the workers and their families who are no doubt very worried. We must be proactive now in seeking solutions for them. I would like to see both Enterprise Ireland and the IDA coming together to focus on how we can retain this industry and keep these jobs.
“It is essential for Ballinrobe and the South Mayo area in particular that everything possible is done to retain those jobs. I have been in contact with Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton, and will be working closely with him to ensure that this is the case.
“Irish Pride is a hugely well-known national brand and it had long been recognised as such in the retail industry. Irish Pride has a long and proud relationship with Ballinrobe and its people and it has always been a key player in the community.”
