Farrell highlights funding opportunity for Fingal voluntary groups
2nd May 2013 - Alan Farrell TD
Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal Alan Farrell has urged voluntary community groups in Fingal to apply for funding to the Dublin Bus Community Spirit Initiative, which is now seeking applications.
“Not enough people are aware that Dublin Bus runs a Community Spirit Initiative, granting financial awards to voluntary community groups in order to make a meaningful contribution to the towns in which it operates.
“To date, up to 1,300 community voluntary groups in Dublin have benefitted from these awards.
“Fingal has a rich community voluntary sector and this is a unique and terrific opportunity for volunteers to apply for some additional support to develop new projects, grow services and help raise community spirit.
“The Dublin Bus Community Spirit Initiative is now seeking applications for grants of €1,000, €2,000 or €5,000 for voluntary groups that work in the area of Children and Youth, Sport, People with Disabilities, Older people, Environment and Local Community and Education.
“Investment in community groups has a positive knock on affect for the public at large and raises community spirit and I am pleased that Dublin Bus has continued to recognise its role in playing a part in local development.
“The closing date for applications is Friday the 7st June 2013. More information can be found online at www.dublinbus.ie and I wish all applicants the very best of luck.”
