International Women’s Day – The women who inspire our politicians: Activists, athletes, family and friends
8th March 2018 - Fine Gael Press Office
Fine Gael Ministers, Deputies and Senators have gathered together today to pay tribute to the women who inspire them most.
International Women’s Day (IWD) celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
From former presidents to Olympic medallists, campaigners to best friends, politicians admire many different female role models for their courage and accomplishments.
While some TDs and Senators are inspired by international activists and parliamentarians, for many, inspiration was found much closer to home.
Fine Gael has more women elected to the Dáil than any other party- having introduced gender quotas we will continue to strive for greater representation for women in politics.
Fine Gael is a modern progressive party with many hardworking women focused on social progress, finding solutions to problems and working to improve the world around them.
