Grants to help you go green – Rock
21st August 2018 - Noel Rock TD
Homeowners and motorists can avail of a range of supports to reduce their carbon footprint and slash energy costs, a Fine Gael TD has said.
Speaking on day two of Fine Gael’s Green Week, Deputy Noel Rock said: “I’ve always been environmentally conscious from a young age and I’m glad to be able to play my part now as both a legislator and a private citizen.
“In 2016, we got an electric car, and Government initiatives have benefitted us – especially the recent initiative which sees reduced toll fees for electric vehicles.
“As a legislator, I work on behalf of electric vehicle owners regularly – especially with regard to the charging network.”
Deputy Rock continued: “In the house itself, it’s amazing what can be done to conserve energy.
“We live in an A3 rated house now – which means our bills are low enough, and our carbon footprint is too.
“But everybody – no matter where their house is on the BER scale – can play their part in reducing their carbon footprint: and we have grants to help you every step of the way on that journey.”
Deputy Rock added: “For our part, we have solar panels on the roof for instance, which have had a very productive summer this year. You can get grants to assist you with this too.”
Deputy Rock concluded: “From being out and about, I know Irish people are fundamentally environmentally conscious at heart, and want to make whatever practical moves possible to make their own lives that bit greener.
“There’s a real sense of practical environmentalism out there, and it’s up to us to assist people in fulfilling that ambition. I firmly believe that every party should be a green party – and Fine Gael is no exception.
