Tánaiste announces Oireachtas Committee Chairpersons

An Tánaiste and Leader of Fine Gael Simon Harris TD has announced the appointment of the following Oireachtas Committee Chairpersons:
- Micheál Carrigy T.D., Committee on Housing, Local Government & Heritage.
- Barry Ward T.D., Committee on European Affairs.
- Keira Keogh T.D., Committee on Children & Equality.
- Michael Murphy T.D., Committee on Transport.
- Naoise Ó Muirí T.D., Committee on Climate, Environment and Energy.
- Catherine Callaghan T.D., Committee on Members’ Interests.
- John Paul O’Shea T.D., Committee on Social Protection, Rural, and Community Development.
In addition, the Tánaiste has appointed John Clendennen as Assistant Whip.
James Geoghegan will serve as frontbench spokesperson on Dublin and Emer Currie as spokesperson on Childcare.
The Tánaiste said: “This is a really strong Fine Gael team with an energy and determination to deliver.
“The Fine Gael team will advance progress on climate, housing, transport, childcare and social protection over the years.
“I am particularly pleased we will chair the Committee on EU Affairs at such a pivotal time ahead of the EU Presidency.
“In addition to these appointments, James will serve as our spokesperson for Dublin bringing together our team across the capital to drive the agenda of change.
“And Emer will continue the unrelenting focus on childcare for the party.
“John will also play a pivotal role in ensuring Fine Gael priorities and values are driven across the Dáil and Oireachtas.
“In the coming day, I will make further party spokesperson appointments and appoint Fine Gael TDs and Senators to key Oireachtas Committees.”
