Application for Vhi SwiftCare Clinic marks a step forward for health care in Limerick & Mid-West – Byrne
16th August 2019 - Senator Maria Byrne
A planning application to Limerick City and County Council for a new state of the art Vhi SwiftCare Clinic is welcome news for Vhi customers in Limerick and the Mid-West Region according to local Senator Maria Byrne.
Senator Byrne said: “I am happy to see the proposal for a Vhi SwiftCare Clinic in Limerick take a real step forward with a planning application submitted to Limerick City and County Council this week.”
“This new development will provide a state of the art health and wellbeing Centre within City Gate House in Raheen Business Park. The Centre will be 601 sqm and will accommodate a Vhi Swiftcare urgent care centre and health screening services”
“We are all aware that the population in Limerick is growing rapidly and will continue to increase in the coming years. To cater for the needs of this growing population, and the future growth of the city, it is vital that the necessary infrastructure is provided.”
Senator Byrne added: “The development of such a facility in Raheen will ensure that Vhi customers have the same access to the Swiftcare services enjoyed by customers in Dublin for some time now.
“It will also have the added benefit of relieving pressure on the A&E in University Hospital Limerick as certain health issues can be treated in the Swiftcare clinic. Health insurance is part of the overall healthcare mix to enhance the overall provision of health care services.
“Government is also working to specifically improve the service provided in UHL. Capacity is being significantly increased with a 60 bed modular build under way and a further 96 bed block committed.”
