7th October 2013 - James Bannon TD

Fine Gael TD for Longford Westmeath, James Bannon has today announced the extra boost of 20,000 euro in funding for the Co Longford Youth Service from the Department of Children.
The Deputy stated “This is a great boost for the young people of Longford and the local community. The Co Longford Youth Service does great work around our community and I am delighted by the €20,000 extra funding that has been made available for them to continue to carry out their good work.
“The main objective of the Youth Service is to promote and support the physical, social, educational and personal development of young people in County Longford through carrying out research on the needs of young people and promoting and raising awareness locally of the issues affecting young people.
“The youth service in Longford provides many benefits to our community along the lines of working directly with youth groups, one to one mentoring of young people and volunteer training.

“I will continue to support the Co. Longford Youth Service in the trojan work they do with disadvantaged and marginalised young people and am delighted to see that their efforts are paying off. I would also like to commend the work of the co-ordinator of the project, Sarajane McNaboe as well as the youth workers
