Cabra needs a permanent train station – McAdam

The National Transport Authority (NTA) must deliver a permanent train station for Cabra, the Lord Mayor of Dublin has said.
Councillor Ray McAdam, the Fine Gael candidate in the Dublin Central bye-election, said the station, which is to be delivered as part of Dart Plus South West, would transform the local community in Cabra.
“With so many new homes and apartments being delivered across Cabra, and with the existing rail service already running through the Phoenix Park tunnel to Spencer Dock, the case for a new station is clear, urgent and compelling.
“For too long, trains have bypassed Cabra, with the community not getting the benefits of having a train pass through their neighbourhood.
“The proposed station will provide a service for around 26,000 people, and many of these people are commuting into the city centre several times a week. A new train station for Cabra will transform public transport for people in Dublin Central.
“It would ease pressure on already congested bus corridors and reduce our dependency on cars across the constituency.
“It would help our local businesses, increasing footfall, and making the area more attractive for people looking to set up businesses in the area.
“This is exactly the kind of infrastructure our community needs if we are serious about sustainable transport, better connectivity and proper planning for a growing city.
“The Minister for Transport must work with the NTA to prioritise the delivery of a new train station for Cabra now.
“Strong, experienced and hard-working local representation matters. Dublin Central needs a TD who knows how local government works, who understands the needs of our communities, and who will fight to get things delivered,” concluded Councillor McAdam.
