Coonan welcomes funding for TRYS and Cappa White NS

7th December 2013 - Sarah Meade

Fine Gael Tipperary TD, Noel Coonan, has this evening (Thursday) welcomed the announcement that Tipperary Regional Youth Services (TRYS) and Cappa White National School are set to share in €15,000 in funding under a National Lottery grants. The funding has been announced by the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Frances Fitzgerald TD.

“I am delighted that this funding has been awarded to local organisations in Tipperary to help provide services for children and young people in the area.

“TYRS, which provides invaluable support for teenagers and young people, is set to receive €10,000. I arranged a meeting with representatives of TYRS and the Minister for Children, Frances Fiztgerald TD, in Templemore recently, to give the organisation a chance to tell the Minister about its good work. Clearly, she was impressed by what she heard.

“TYRS runs a centre in Templemore and a Youth Café in Thurles, providing young people with somewhere safe to hang out, where they can access support and information on a range of issues.

“Cappa White National School is also to receive €5,000 as part of this latest round of funding. National Lottery grants provide very important support and funding for local community-based groups, and I am very pleased that two Tipperary organisations have benefitted on this occasion.”
