Fellowship House will provide vital support for people addressing addiction issues in Cork- Lombard

29th March 2017 - Senator Tim Lombard

Fine Gael Cork senator Tim Lombard has welcomed the commencement of building work on a new addiction treatment centre in Togher.

Earlier this week the sod was turned on the Tabor Group’s state-of-the-art Fellowship House, which will enable the service to increase its capacity to provide both treatment and independent accommodation for over 30 men recovering from addiction.

Senator Lombard said: “Tabor Group has played an important role in the treatment and rehabilitation of people with addictions for almost three decades. This project will be a vital support for people who are homeless and addressing addiction problems in Cork.

“Fellowship House provides necessary extended treatment for those struggling with addiction and who are working towards independent living.

“This new facility will increase capacity from 10 residents to 16 residents completing a 3-month treatment programme.

“It will also include an additional 15 units of accommodation for men who have completed the programme but require a step-down model of independent living and these men will have access to ongoing support and care.

“This new project is addressing both the growing addiction issue as well as the increasing homelessness issue here in Cork. When complete, Fellowship House will be one of the most modern facilities of its kind in the country.”

Building on the new €4.8 million project is expected to be completed by autumn 2018.
