FF should write a jobs plan instead of rewriting history – Daly

7th January 2016 - Jim Daly TD

Speaking this evening Fine Gael TD Jim Daly said:

“Fianna Fail and Michéal Martin would be better off spending their time developing a jobs policy rather than constantly returning to populist politics and attempting to rewrite history.

“As a result of destroying the economy Fianna Fáil and Michéal Martin hiked takes and introduced the USC. Now they want to maintain a high tax burden on working families.

“When he was last at the Cabinet table Michéal Martin signed off on cutting the Carer’s Allowance – twice; the Disability Allowance -twice; the Blind Pension -twice; the Widow’s Pension –twice and the Invalidity Pension – twice.

“Strong jobs growth has allowed us to begin reversing Fianna Fáil’s tax hikes and fund investment in key services.

“After four and a half years in opposition Fianna Fáil has no jobs plan.

“Unlike Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael has a long term plan to keep the recovery going. Our plan will create more job opportunities generating the resources to abolish the USC and invest, reform and improve frontline public services.”
