GE Healthcare $40 million investment to create 140 additional jobs in East Cork – David Stanton
1st December 2015 - David Stanton TD
Fine Gael TD for Cork East, David Stanton has welcomed today’s (Tuesday) announcement by GE Healthcare of the creation of an extra 140 jobs at its plant in Carrigtwohill. This will bring the total number of people employed by GE in East Cork to almost 640.
“Today’s announcement of a $40 million investment in the Carrigtwohill facility is supported by IDA Ireland and will double GE Healthcare’s production capacity of medical imaging contrast media from 22.5 million to 43 million units per year. This is a huge vote of confidence in their Life Sciences business in Ireland and the quality of our workforce in East Cork.
“These 140 new jobs in Carrigtwohill come on top of Apple’s recent announcement of 1,000 extra jobs and an additional 400 at Voxpro in Cork. It is confirmation of the Government’s success at creating an environment to generate private sector jobs as manufacturing is a key sector targeted for growth in our Action Plan for Jobs. Today’s announcement is very much welcome and will provide a great boost to Cork East as we work to keep the recovery going.”
