3rd June 2022 - Senator Maria Byrne
Fine Gael Senator Maria Byrne is encouraging people to have their say on the future of childcare. Senator Byrne is hosting a public meeting in Limerick on the topic on Thursday the 9th of June.
Senator Byrne said, “Fine Gael is focused on building stronger, safer communities and quality, affordable childcare is hugely important to that.
“I encourage everyone interested in the future of childcare, from parents to providers, to come along to this meeting on the 9th of June and have your say. Fine Gael wants to hear from you as we reshape childcare for the future.
“I am delighted to say the meeting will feature two experts in this area. Yvonne Galvin is Early Years Manager at Our Ladies of Lourdes Community Centre and the National Community Childcare Forum on the steering group for Professional Educators & Managers Ireland. Yvonne O’Sullivan is owner/ manager of Naíonra na nÓg since 2000 & passionate advocate for the early years sector.
“This is the second in a series of public meetings taking place across Ireland to inform and consult about Fine Gael’s work in the area of childcare reform. Fine Gael recently ran a Policy Lab to listen to the ideas of parents, providers and staff.
“Fine Gael is working to build local childcare services that best meet local needs. We want to deliver affordability and flexibility for parents. And we want to sustain quality in the sector, ensuring a better career path for childcare workers.
Senator Byrne concluded, “My public meeting will elaborate on all of these proposals and it is open to anyone who wishes to attend, to listen and to contribute. Come along, have your say, and help to shape the future of childcare.”
