Fine Gael candidate in the Roscommon/South Leitrim bye-election, Maura Hopkins, has welcomed the news that services are set to commence at the €6m Ballinamore Primary Care Centre in November.
“I am delighted that the building works are now complete and work is now in progress to have the building commissioned and the equipment installed. The HSE has this week confirmed to me that it plans to have the primary care team and primary care services in place in November at the state-of-the-art building.
“The modern purpose built centre will provide accommodation for a range of health services provided by GPs, Public Health Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Chiropodists.
“The centre also contains multi-disciplinary bookable clinic rooms for visiting professionals including Dieticians, Speech and Language Therapists and Psychologists. Community Mental Health Services will also be available on the grounds.
“In relation to the 20-bed Community Hospital element located on the seven and half acre site, I have been informed that the tender for an operator to run the 20 bedded unit is at an advanced stage with plans for an official opening of the facility early in the New Year.
“Both the Primary Care Centre and the Community Hospital will undoubtedly be of huge benefit to the people of Ballinamore and South Leitrim. I want to pay tribute to my colleague Deputy Frank Feighan for his Trojan work in ensuring this project has been delivered.”
