30th April 2013 - Paul Kehoe
Minister Paul Kehoe has welcomed the news that the multi-million contract for the N11 Arklow to Rathnew road scheme, from Jack White’s Pub to the Beehive, has been signed.
Speaking following the announcement, Minister Kehoe said:
“This project will be a major boost for tourism, business and commuters in County Wexford and the South East. It comprises of two separate construction projects, inclusive of a service area on the N11, under a Public Private Partnership. The contractor BAM Civil Ltd (BAM PPP & PGGM Infrastructure Co-operative) will commence construction on the project and it is expected to be completed in just over two years. The overall scheme value is €282 million.
“This Motorway from Jack Whites to the Beehive consists of 16.5km of new dual carriageway, along with associated link roads and junctions. It will connect the existing N11 Arklow Bypass with the existing N11 Rathnew/Ashford Bypass creating motorway/dual carriageway from Dublin to Gorey. This project will also include the construction of a service area on the N11-Northbound, just north of Gorey, with direct access from the N11-Southbound via an overpass.
“I am delighted with the announcement of this Public Private Partnership announcement, the first contract of its kind signed since 2007. It will have enormous benefits for County Wexford ahead of the construction of the Enniscorthy and New Ross bypasses in the coming years”.
