Lonely Planet award a massive boost for Clare – Conway
17th November 2020 - Senator Martin Conway
The Lonely Planet award for the Burren Eco Tourism Network is a massive boost to Clare, Fine Gael Senator Martin Conway has said.
Senator Conway congratulated all members of the Network on achieving the award in the publication’s ‘Best in Travel’ picks for 2021.
Senator Conway said: “The Network consists of more than 60 local enterprises committed to sustainable tourism in the Burren limestone landscape and the Cliffs of Moher geopark.
“These committed local enterprises must be highly commended for bringing such a prestigious award to Ireland and putting Clare on the map as a global world leader in sustainable tourism.
“The Lonely Planet description of the Burren Eco Tourism Network highlights community collaboration that has transformed the domestic and international travel industry and encourages visitors to the many beautiful sites in Clare.
“This accolade is particularly impressive as tourism has been heavily impacted during the Covid crisis.
“As visitors start to imagine a world post-pandemic, recognition like this will be key in putting Clare and Ireland front of mind for tourists around the world when it is safe to travel again.”
