MetroLink on track after judicial review withdrawn – Boland

23rd December 2025 - Grace Boland

The removal of a judicial review into the proposed MetroLink is a significant development which brings more certainty to the major transport project, a Fine Gael TD has said.

Deputy Grace Boland said the planned MetroLink from Dublin city centre to North Dublin, including a direct link to the city’s airport, is absolutely essential.

“I welcome the news this evening that the judicial review into the MetroLink has been formally withdrawn. This is a significant development that removes a legal impediment to one of the most transformative infrastructure projects in decades,” she said.

“It allows us to move forward with certainty into the New Year.

“MetroLink will deliver a modern, high-capacity transport link between Swords, Dublin Airport and the city centre, supporting jobs, reducing congestion and enhancing connectivity right across our capital.

“Fine Gael has consistently championed investment in strategic public transport projects that support sustainable growth and improve quality of life for commuters and communities. With dedicated Government funding already committed under the National Development Plan, this project is now on a path to being delivered.

“I look forward to working with all stakeholders to ensure MetroLink is delivered efficiently and to the highest standards, and that its benefits are realised as swiftly as possible for people and businesses throughout Dublin and the wider region,” Deputy Boland said.
