Minister for Finance welcomes the appointment of the new deputy governor financial regulation at the central bank

The Minister welcomes the appointment of Mr. Cyril Roux to the position of Deputy Governor, Financial Regulation at the Central Bank.

His appointment comes at an important juncture in the process of comprehensively restructuring Ireland’s regulatory landscape with the introduction of important new regulatory powers for the Central Bank through the recent enactment of the Central Bank (Supervision and Enforcement) Act 2013.

Commenting on today’s (21st August 2013) appointment the Minister said:

“I would like to wish Mr. Roux every success in his new role and I look forward to engaging with him on the challenging work ahead. His broad international regulatory experience will be an important asset in the continuation of the task of rebuilding Ireland’s regulatory framework”.

Mr. Roux replaces Matthew Elderfield. The Minister also wished to record his appreciation of the work of the outgoing Deputy Governor in this regard and wished him success in the future.

Mr. Roux will take up his new position on the 1st October.
