Murphy welcomes Cork jobs announcement by Canadian cybersecurity leader
31st July 2015 -
Fine Gael TD for Cork North Central and Minister for Data Protection, Dara Murphy, has welcomed today’s jobs announcement for Ballincollig, Cork by leading cybersecurity firm, eSentire Inc., a global leader in continuous advanced threat protection cybersecurity solutions and managed security services, based in Ontario, Canada.
The company plans to create close to 100 jobs over the next five years in a European HQ and Security Operations Centre in Cork. The investment is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland.
Commenting on the announcement, Minister Murphy said:
“Today’s jobs announcement by eSentire is good news for Cork’s IT graduates and sales professionals, looking to build new career opportunities with a leading specialist cybersecurity firm.
“This investment in Ballincollig, by one of the fastest growing software security companies in the world, is also further validation for Cork, as the location of choice, for an increasing number of North American multinational software firms looking to establish their European HQ in our city.
“Cork will soon be able to provide high speed fibre networks, connecting (IP) internet traffic directly to and from the USA, UK, Europe and Asia, under a major infrastructure project being led by Hibernia Networks, and ambitious plans by other investors.
“Earlier this week I had the opportunity to speak at an event organised by Hollyhill-based Cork Internet eXchange (CIX) on exciting plans for Cork to become a global IP Switching Centre. This development will anchor Cork as a location for further investment and job creation in the technology sector, attracting significant interest from other leading global data centres.”
