New jobs for Dublin 8 as Digital Hub company doubles its workforce – Byrne

15th June 2015 - Fine Gael Press Office

Fine Gael Dublin South Central TD, Catherine Byrne, has welcomed the creation of 20 new jobs in the Digital Hub in Dublin 8. The news comes as the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation announces 185 new jobs in 6 IDA Ireland client companies across the country today (Monday).

“The announcement by Megatransfert SAS of 20 new jobs at their base in the Digital Hub is really welcome for Dublin 8 and the South West Inner City. It’s great to see businesses in the Digital Hub growing and expanding and with this announcement today, Megatransfert is doubling its workforce.

“Megatransfert is a French FinTech company, established in 2011, specialising in the area of micropayments via prepaid cards, TCom-payment, E-money, E-Wallet and M-Wallet solutions.  They set up an office in Dublin about a year ago and have been going from strength to strength ever since.

“In announcing the new jobs, Megatransfert founder Florent Thiebeaux noted that Dublin is a ‘technical hub’. It is testament to the success of the Digital Hub Development Agency, now merging with Dublin City Council, that international companies are locating there and in many cases are now expanding and growing their staff.

“The Digital Hub and the new jobs created there are really beneficial for the local communities of James’ Street, Meath Street, Francis Street and surrounding areas. Job creation always has a positive knock on effect for the local community with local businesses benefitting from the newly employed people in the area having more money in their pockets.

“The Government’s Action Plan for Jobs is working, with over 100,000 new jobs created since its launch in February 2012. Dublin is really buzzing again as more and more companies locate here and expand their numbers of employees. The Government has a plan to replace all the jobs lost in the crash by 2018 to ensure that everyone feels the benefit of the ongoing economic recovery.”
