New permanent chair of Dublin inner city taskforce must keep momentum going – McAdam

6th May 2026 - Fine Gael Press Office

The new chair of the North East Inner City (NEIC) Taskforce must drive delivery and ensure continued regeneration of the inner city, the Lord Mayor of Dublin has said.

Councillor Ray McAdam, the Fine Gael candidate for the Dublin Central bye-election, welcomed the appointment of a new chair, Patricia King, saying the role is vital for progress to continue.

“The NEIC Initiative works because it is built on partnership between Government, Dublin City Council, local communities, schools, businesses, Gardaí and voluntary organisations. The taskforce has been without a chair for too long, so it’s great to finally see a new chair appointed today.

“The work carried out by the taskforce is so important for the continued development of the inner city, and the role of chair is critical for ensuring people are brought together around the table, to build trust and drive progress.

“More than €60 million has been invested in the NEIC since 2016. The next phase must be about turning that investment into visible, lasting improvements for local people, stronger community confidence, safer streets, better opportunities and better services.

“I wish the new chair the best of luck in her new role. We need to see a hands-on approach to ensure the good progress that has been made continues. Patricia King has shown she understands how to get things done.

“I look forward to working closely with Patricia, along with the rest of the board, government departments, and local organisations to ensure we continue the great work carried out by the taskforce,” concluded Councillor McAdam.
