New tech jobs as economic recovery continues in Cork – Collins

25th January 2016 - Aine Collins TD

Fine Gael TD for Cork North West, Áine Collins, has welcomed the announcement by Hortonworks Inc. that they are to expand in Cork, with the opening of a brand new premises and the creation of 50 new tech jobs.

“Today (Monday) marks an exciting announcement by Hortonworks Inc. at the opening of their new premises in Cork, with the announcement of 50 new tech jobs.

“The new Cork office will accommodate Hortonworks global technical support team for the more than 750 customers internationally. It is great to see such a global IT player creating jobs in Cork and it is a testament to the wealth of talent we have here.

“As the Minister for Jobs, Richard Bruton explains, technology is one to the key sectors targeted by the Government for job creation. It is an integral part of our Action Plan for Jobs which has delivered over 135,000 jobs since its launch four years ago.

“The economic recovery is continuing in Cork and job creation is a hugely important part of this. More people in work creates the resources to cut taxes for working people and invest in better public services, improving living standards for all.

“Fine Gael has a long term economic plan to keep the recovery going which includes three steps: more and better jobs; making work pay and investment in better services.

“If re-elected, we’ll continue to make responsible and sensible decisions to keep the economy strong and the recovery going in Cork.”
