New unit key to regeneration of Dublin city centre – McAdam

16th May 2026 - Fine Gael Press Office

The establishment of a new Project Management Unit for Dublin city is a major step towards delivering the capital’s taskforce recommendations, the Lord Mayor of Dublin has said.

Councillor Ray McAdam, Fine Gael’s candidate in the Dublin Central bye-election said this unit will drive the long-term rejuvenation and transformation of Dublin city centre.

“The establishment of this Project Management Unit is a clear signal that Dublin is now moving from planning to delivery on the redevelopment of the city.

“We are putting in place the structures that will deliver real change for the capital. We want to see a renewed O’Connell Street, a stronger nighttime economy, and cleaner public spaces. This unit will have responsibility for getting this done.”

The Project Management Unit will be tasked with delivering the structures needed to introduce the recommendations that were proposed by Dublin City Council and adopted as part of the Taskforce Report and the City Council’s Urban Regenerations Framework.

“We all know there is a need to reimagine and reclaim our capital and part of this is delivering the recommendations from the Dublin taskforce

“I have worked hard to ensure this project has continued to advance and maintain momentum.

“This is why I believe Dublin Central needs a strong government voice, who will relentlessly advocate for the investment required to rejuvenate our city centre, tackle dereliction and vacancy, improve public safety, support housing delivery, expand cultural activity, and ensure that the promises made to Dublin are delivered upon”, concluded Councillor McAdam.
