Cllr Val Smith
Val was first elected to office in 2009, he is married to Siobhan and they have two boys. A particularly dynamic and effective elected member, Val has been instrumental in securing substantial amounts of funding for many projects in the local area. He secured €250,000 to increase standards in Stradone Village and he is responsible for the new sewage extension in the area. Added to this he has secured €52,000 to improve road safety in terms of traffic calming measures, and is currently working on the N3 Junction at Lavey Inn. This list of achievements is not exhaustive as he has worked hard to secure €700,000 in funding for the new bus shelter, which also includes a bus parking bay, the only one of its kind between Cavan and Dublin. This new facility has made an incredible difference to the citizens using the bus service.
