Michael Hegarty

Michael was first elected to office in 1985, and has been returned to public office at every subsequent election.  He has held numerous positions including the Chairman of the Cork County Council 2001-2002. As a full time public representative for over 30 years, he has been advising and assisting people in all aspects of daily life in the region. Michael continues to be committed to a strong and vibrant East Cork municipal district, proactively promoting local businesses to facilitate job creation and to support existing employers, encouraging deeper economic development and driving local innovation. Recent projects include encouraging the more effective use of local natural resources such as energy and sustainability going forward. Michael continues to strive for improved services and quality of life for all citizens of his electoral area.
