Dublin City Council

Cllr Ray McAdam

Cllr Ray McAdam — Lord Mayor of Dublin

Ray McAdam is the Fine Gael City Councillor for the North Inner City and the 358th Lord Mayor of Dublin, serving for the 2025–2026 term. First elected to Dublin City Council in 2009, Ray has been re-elected at every subsequent local election — 2014, 2019, and again in 2024, when he topped the poll for Fine Gael in the North Inner City for the first time in the ward’s history.

As Lord Mayor, Ray has set out a clear mission under the theme of Celebrating Dublin — a commitment to champion the capital’s people, culture, history, and neighbourhoods, while delivering ambitious, practical change. His mayoralty is defined by five flagship initiatives:

  1. Reimagining Our City Centre — Launching Dublin 2050: Establishing a Lord Mayor’s Commission to shape a long-term vision for O’Connell Street and the wider capital core.
  2. From Vacancy to Vibrancy: Driving action to end dereliction, create a publicly accessible Dublin Vacancy Map, and unlock empty buildings for homes, workspaces, and community use.
  3. Get Dublin Moving: Bringing the city’s Sports & Wellbeing Plan to life through inclusive programmes for all ages and abilities.
  4. A Dublin Disability Inclusion Drive: Embedding accessibility and opportunity across the city’s services, spaces, and civic life.
  5. Young Dubliners Speak: Giving young people a platform to shape policy and share their vision for Dublin.

Alongside his mayoral programme, Ray serves on Dublin City Council’s Mobility & Public Realm and Housing Strategic Policy Committees. He is co-Chair of the O’Devaney Gardens Redevelopment Community Consultative Forum, a Board member of the Grangegorman Development Agency, and a Board member of Dublin Town.

Over his years on the Council, Ray has chaired and served on a wide range of committees, leading initiatives including the new Dublin City Heritage Plan, the review of the Retail Strategy for the city centre, and the adoption of the Dublin City Development Plan 2022–2028.

Ray’s leadership as Lord Mayor is focused on ensuring Dublin is inclusive, vibrant, safe, and sustainable — a city that works for everyone, today and for decades to come.
