Emer has helped many families and community organisations in her area and has campaigned on local issues from bus services to quarries, from nursing homes to road improvement schemes and school places to park and recreation facilities. She initiated the hugely successful ‘’4 Districts Fun Day’’ in Rathcoole and for the three summers previous to this helped out at the charity walk in Rathcoole, organised by Michael Ryan, secured exercise equipment for Rathcoole Park and nominated Newcastle’s RAMS for a prestigious LAMA award at the national competition. Emer volunteers at the annual Rathcoole Senior Citizens Christmas Dinner and worked with staff and families of residents in Crooksling to keep the nursing home open. Emer is a graduate of UCD and The National College of Ireland where she received a B.A. in Economics and Sociology and a Higher Diploma in Public Relations and Event Management. Emer has always been an active citizen and her interest in politics goes back to her involvement with the students’ council in Rathcoole’s Holy Family Community School. She currently works in communications for a multinational corporation. Emer fought against the changes to the 68 and 69 bus route proposed by Dublin Bus to the local services in Rathcoole, Newcastle and Saggart and against proposals for a cemetery at Calliaghstown and a waste facility in Windmill Hill. She also campaigned for a playground in Rathcoole Park and more school places for children from Newcastle, Rathcoole and Saggart.
