Cllr Eddie Hoare
Eddie was elected to Galway City Council in May 2019. During his first term he served on the Transport, Housing and Economic Development and Tourism Strategic Policy Committees chairing the Transport Committee from 2019 to 2021. He also served as a Member of the Joint Policing Committee.
Eddie served as Mayor of the City of Galway in 2023-2024. Some of the key projects Eddie worked on during this term in office included the Ceannt Station redevelopment, Bus Connects, Lights in Pearse Stadium, The Galway City Ring Road, The Galway Harbour Redevelopment and housing projects in Sandy Road and the Dyke Road led by the Land Development Agency.
Eddie was reelected on the first count in May 2024. He is currently a member of the Urban Development and Project Development Strategic Policy Committees. He also recently joined the newly formed Community Safety Partnership. He was appointed a Peace Commissioner by the Minister for Justice Jim O ‘Callaghan in 2025.
Eddie is a Chartered Accountants working in practice in Galway over the past 15 years. Eddie works with Hoare Chartered Accountants, an accountancy practice established by his mother Mary in 1990. He specialises in Audit, Accountancy and Taxation services.
Eddie is also a Nominee of IPB Insurance and was appointed a Group Non-Executive Director in November 2022. He chairs the Sustainability Committee of IPB Insurance.
