Cllr Aoife Kennelly
Aoife was co-opted as a member of Kerry County Council in April 2025, replacing Mike Kennelly, following his election to Seanad Éireann.
“I am a newly co-opted Kerry County Councillor since April 2025, and it is a great honour to represent the people of Kerry. Stepping into this role is both a privilege and a responsibility that I take very seriously. I’m committed to being a strong, active voice for our communities and to working hard on the issues that matter most to the people who live here.
“My priority as a Councillor is to represent the people of Kerry with honesty and action. Affordable housing is at the top of my agenda—I believe everyone deserves the chance to live securely and affordably in their own community. I’m also passionate about improving local infrastructure, from roads and transport to broadband access, so that families, workers, and businesses can thrive. Supporting local jobs, protecting public services, and ensuring that Kerry remains a great place to live, work, and raise a family are at the heart of everything I do. I’m here to listen, to work hard, and to deliver.
“With a background in Second Level Education, I’ve developed a practical, problem-solving approach that I now bring to my role as Councillor. Growing up in North Kerry in a strong Fine Gael family, I’ve always had a deep interest in public service and community. I’m also passionate about sport, both as a player and supporter, and I believe in the power of sport to bring people together and strengthen communities. My background in education and my local roots have given me a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing our area.
