Cllr John Duffy

John was co-opted as a Member of Meath County Council in April 2025, replacing Senator Linda Nelson Murray, following her election to Seanad Éireann.

A former Town Councillor, John served on Navan Town Council from 2004 – 2009.

A native of Mayo he first came to Co. Meath in 1974 attending Warrenstown Agricultural College, after which he spent a number of years in UCC, followed by An Foras Taluntais (Teagasc) before joining the Irish Sugar Company (Greencore). In 2007 together with a colleague they formed their own business, Terrachem Ltd, an Agri Distribution Company from which he retired in March 2025 after 18 years.

John is married to Kay and they have three adult children and have lived in Navan for 38 years.

John states that:

“Over the next 4 years it’s my intention to work to improve the quality of life in Navan, by providing adequate housing, particularly of affordable housing, to advocate for improved retro-fitting programmes, which is a hugely important issue for me, and to ensure adequate amenities and local services which form the basis for everything in our society today. This is the work of all Public Representatives, and this will be my focus each day.
