Catherine Callaghan

I’m Catherine Callaghan. I live in rural County Carlow. In my life to date I have served an apprenticeship, been a mature student, a full time carer for my parents and elderly uncle, and a stay at home parent who created her own successful wellbeing business on the side. I am a regular contributor to the Wellness section of Irish Country Living in the Farmers Journal and am a committee member of Carlow Mental Health Association – constantly working to promote positive mental health in my community and county.

For the past 5 years I have been elected and re-elected annually as the Chairperson of my local Camogie club, I pride myself on ensuring that in our club, the girls and women of my community have a positive place to go to build friendships, have fun and stay healthy. I was selected as Carlow Camogie Volunteer of the Year in 2019 and elected as Leinster Delegate in 2022 while serving on the Carlow County Camogie Board. I coach four Camogie teams at club (and in 2022 at county level also) and currently lead from the front by playing as fullback on our adult camogie team.

For the past ten years I have been solely responsible for the operation of the family sheep farm and recently started a new role as a Special Needs Assistant.

In my spare time I enjoy hillwalking, cooking and spending time with my family and friends. Tá grá mór agam don Ghaeilge and I believe in the value of being real, honest and true.
