Paul was co-opted onto Clare County Council in 1999, as a replacement for Joe Carey T.D. He is married to Siobhan and they have two young children. He is active as chairman of the local GAA club in Clarecastle and is a full-time public representative. With a strong sense of community, Paul is involved in the local neighbourhood watch initiative, is a member of the local parish council, the Clarecastle playground committee and Clarecastle community development. He is passionate about improving local issues including the local transport network, and is involved in the development of cycle lanes and footpaths for the convenience, safety and well-being of the local community. Paul is a stay at home Dad. He is committed to the issue of Gender Quotas and is campaigning for facilities to be introduced in terms of the introduction of services which will allow easier access to public life for women. Paul is a diligent worker for his electorate and is always available to people.
