My name is Siobhan Shovlin. I am proud to represent the Castleknock Local Electoral Area in Fingal County Council since September, 2020. The Castleknock Local Electoral Area represents Blanchardstown, Carpenterstown, Castleknock, Clonsilla and Lucan North.
Since joining the council in September, 2020, I have had the pleasure of getting to know/working with and helping many of the local groups within the community including Tidy Towns Groups, Sports Clubs and Residents’ Associations. Growing up, community development was a huge part of my family life and I have brought this same energy and enthusiasm to local politics since joining the council in 2020.
I live in the local area which I represent and you might see me out walking around the community in my free time. I trained as a Primary School Teacher in St. Patrick’s College, Drumcondra, graduating in 2011. I currently work as a 5th Class Teacher in St. Francis Xavier Senior School, Roselawn.
I serve on the Economic, Enterprise and Tourism Development Strategic Policy Committee and am also a member of the Dublin 15 Tourism Group. The group launched the Liffey Valley Trail to further promote the area as a tourism destination. I am also a member of the Board of Dublin and Dún Laoghaire Education & Training Board (DDLETB), the Board of Luttrellstown Community College and a member of the Local Traveller Accommodation Consultative Committee.
I was appointed a Peace Commissioner by Minister Helen McEntee in April, 2021. I am available to assist in any way I can in this role.
I hope to meet as many of you as possible over the next few months in the lead up to the Local Elections and if there is anything at all that I can help with, please do let me know.
Go raibh míle maith agaibh!
